Get OverOrganized! Free Printable Calendars

If you love to organize and over-organize like I do these printable may be for you.

When our girls were still young I had so many events, school functions and not to mention my own work schedule to keep track of. First I started with the monthly, then weekly then daily calendar/list. It is so nice to have a detailed list for the family to refer to.

I know what you're thinking; Isn't there a calendar on your phone?
Well yes, there is. But I can't seem to get anyone in the family to look at it. Seeing this on the fridge every day seems to get the point across.

You will notice that I have the weekend at the end of the week; not beginning on the traditional Sunday. I do this because many of our scheduled trips and events last from Friday to Sunday night and I like to just lump them in together. In my mind the week days are a block of random events and the weekend is it's own block of time. Am I alone in this?

It took some getting used to but I love it this way.

I also like to paperclip any invites, event flyers or specific coupons to the weekly page it applies to. This way all of what I need is in one place and ready when Monday morning arrives, rather then creating clutter on my fridge.

Once I have printed off a years worth of pages, I clamp together and glue with padding compound. This can be found on Amazon or at your local craft store. Simply clamp the pages together with clips and paint the glue along the spine. By morning it will be dry and ready to hang.

Easter Napkin Rings- Printable

Easter is just around the corner so I thought I would share what I used for last years table decor.

I try to create a craft for the little ones to do, giving them some ownership of the preparations.

You may need to help with the cut out if you want your bunnies to keep their ears. Otherwise they just look like really creepy cats.  However, there are two different designs that are fully within the borders of the napkin ring for any child to cut out successfully.

I have heard of many people choosing a word to motivate, alter habits and encourage healthy change. This year I decided to try it out. You can go to sites like Pick Your Word or One Word 365  and a dozen others but for myself I chose something I knew I needed to work on.

Words are such a powerful thing. A word can be spoken into our lives and we allow it to change us or hurt us. We tend to meditate on the negative words when we need to focus on the positive ones.

S  I  M  P  L  I  F  Y

For me to simplify means more then just getting rid of clutter- though that is a weekly challenge of mine. It is also about what I bring into my home/life. Will it bring me peace? Will saying yes to this event or responsibility enrich mine and my families life or be a burden? Does this simplify things?

The other, larger part of this is exercising the power of this word in the words I speak. As a parent I feel the pressure. Daily. What words I speak into my child's life count. Now that our last is transitioning into adulthood the lines become blurry and responsibilities on her part are increasing. I have wisdom for her but that is just it; It's my wisdom from my experiences. She needs to gain her own in her own time. So lecturing is out. Keeping it simple is in. This is more then "Let my yes mean yes and my no mean no". It means making my responses simple and holding my tongue. Focusing on what I simply want my relationship to be and making it so with my words or absence of words.

So there it is. My first word.

I hope this encourages someone and if you don't have a word of your own yet you can always borrow mine!
click HERE for a downloadable version of my simplify artwork and HERE for a blank image to write in your own word.

Mine is currently on my desktop and phone home page as daily encouragement and a friendly reminder.

If you have a verse, word or phrase you currently use as encouragement I would love to hear it and perhaps another reader will be also encouraged by it!

November 2015 Desktop Calendar

I have been playing around with patterns lately in preparation for a few holiday sales going on this month. I loved these leaves and berries I created with gouache so much I made them into a desk calendar for myself and thought I would share!

2014 November Events

I'm in a strange season of my life right now, as I am sure most women are. I still have a child at home, a family business, a bit of working outside the home and then there is my artwork. A clean house comes last on this list. That is why I have limited myself to only a couple outside market opportunities  this year.
I have been deeply involved in all of the above but now I am printing and framing my butt off in preparation for the upcoming shows.

Want to come?
November 1st: The Lady Bug Bazaar  located in the high school at 300 W Main St.in Battleground WA Shop from 9-4
November 29th: The Brush Prairie Yuletide Bazaar located in Prairie High School
11311 NE 119th St Brush Prairie, WA 98662 Shop from 9-4 This will be my first year here and I am so excited. They even have free on site childcare so you can look through over 200 vendors!

Why the Vancouver area you ask? Well, my oldest sister Angie of Dear Spring Green lives there and together we go in on a booth. Her sewn items are exquisite. Her bags are always lined with adorable fabric and detailed with beaded pulls. She doesn't just sew, she quilts and embellishes everything. Just her experiments are amazing!

In addition to having all of my lovely prints, I am including my new line of postcards; many of which are not available in my shop yet.

And with every purchase you get a few little free gifties and an exclusive coupon to my shop!

So, back to work and I hope to see you there!

Organization: Instruction Manuals

It all starts with just one thing. One new item to your home, one new piece of paper or one piece of paper you are trying to find in a giant mess. And then it happens: The world stops turning until you end the chaos once and for all.

My latest organizational whirlwind came when our old HP printer started acting up (only when I was in the middle of a big project of course) and our new printer was delivered. I brought the warranty papers and disk to the office to file away and found the mess above.

Because we have so many instruction manuals and so many appliances (in our personal home and our rentals) I made the labels with a place for the location of the machine/appliance.

For smaller instructions and warranties I put them in a folder and label the outside. I have a few of these now because I like to keep even the instructions for watches, alarm clocks and such. It seems a bit neurotic but you never know:)

And two hours later I have this to show for it. I know it's not much but you know they say that a cluttered drawer means a cluttered mind. I'm living proof of that.

So Click HERE to download the sheet of labels and share the joy of organizing with a friend!

Are there any areas of your home you struggle with?

A Well Planned Year

I spent Monday wandering around the house with the remains of a lovely winter flu trying to organize and clean the house a bit. I found that this is not possible without and organized mind.

Not sure if I have mentioned this before but I am a pathological list maker. It all started when my sister Johanna showed me as a 12 year old, how to make a list of all that needs to be done with the estimated time it will take next to each item. This revolutionized my world and though I don't  always adhere to the timeline I do get quite a bit done.

So, after I made a third trip through the  house looking for the hot cup of coffee I set somewhere, I decided to go to the studio to whip these up for the year and for YOU!

So plan out your month or, if you are feeling as ambitious as I, your entire year.

Among the lambing (we now have 12 little ones), cleaning, baking and wrapping we managed to spend a little time with family and celebrate Christmas twice! Yesterday Mark and I met up with friends at the coast and had a lovely brunch and walked the trails around Haceta Head Light House. It what I felt was a perfect place to spend the first day of the year. It was so invigorating!  On the way home we talked about our hopes for the new year. No resolutions for this girl!

Now I'm back into the studio to cook up a few more paintings and post a few more for sale in the shop that I sold out of at the last show.

Happy New Year Everyone!

You can type your guests names right on the card or write them out like I have. Not the best I could do but it is just a run through. These may be a bit too whimsical for the adults table but great for the kids!

Happy Early Thanksgiving Everyone!

Mark and I have an ongoing competition as to who makes the best blueberry muffins. I for one, am of the mind that streusel topping makes everything better.

Many Saturday mornings we will quickly distract the other while we start preparing "our" muffins before they can get to the mixer. What we do agree on is that our home grown blueberries and farm fresh eggs make them better than anything we could possibly have from a bakery.

Click the link below to download these little gifts from my kitchen to yours, whether you like agree with my stance on streusel topping or not.
